Game Plan

I'm kinda like Mrs Mom... I subscribe to the school of KISS (and I'm not talking about the rock band). If I make too many changes at once, or too big of a change I seem to fall off the wagon. At the same time I need some kind of guidelines. So I came up with a bit of a game plan for myself.

#1 Very Important - Do not take on too much at once and overwhelm myself!
#2 Use the treadmill. And not as a clothes hanger!! When I bought it I swore to myself that I wouldn't be one of "Those People". I am very happy to report that the only time it is used as a hanger is when I drape my sweaty clothes on it to air out before they hit the hamper after a session on the TM. lol My goal is to use my TM for a minimum of 30 min/day 5 times a week.
#3 Get back to the gym. I joined Curves as part of a fitness study a few months ago. I did pretty well and was happy with my results and how I felt. Then Pie got sick, really sick and my life was suddenly put on hold. I was working every day, at the hospital when I wasn't working and just drained right out. I plan on getting back into my routine of 3 days a week at Curves. (side note, would you consider Curves a gym or a workout centre or something else???)
#4 This is a bit tough in the winter but I'm hoping to be able to ride 3 - 4 times a week. I plan to check out team penning this weekend. If I have fun that will be one of my ride days (its every Sunday) And I've also found someone to take lessons from that has an opening that fits my odd schedule!
#5 Eat healthier foods and practice better portion control. I have to say this will probably be the hardest part for me. I eat a LOT of "convenience foods". Usually lunch, and usually because I'm in a hurry. I will also admit that I am often a breakfast skipper and that is something I really need to remedy. There's a reason its called "The most important meal of the day" it fuels your body so you don't crash and eat too much/the wrong kind of foods.

So there you go, my basic game plan. I guess now its time to tell myself Game On!

THis is a great idea. I am sure that someone said that already, however, I didn't read all the comments. :)

Love this idea. I started loosing weight too. In July of 2006 I weighed in at 195 lbs. and 5ft tall. I started Weight Watchers 2 years ago and dropped to 172lbs in 4months. I then hit a wall and sat there till July of 2009. I wanted to get down even further, closer to my idea weight of 120lbs for someone who is 5ft. So I started a workout program that I watched at 2:00am and wonderful hubby bought it for me. Slim In 6 by Debbie Seibers. It is pretty intense, but worked pretty good for me. Of course not as well as the info-mercial shows. I am currently sitting at 138lbs and still working on getting lower. Congrats ladies and I wish you the best!!!

I have wondered about Curves CDN. With the time constratins I have here though, I can't see it happening anytime soon.

Treadmill!! Wonder if I could get the kids on it some this winter.... (if we had one..lol) Might wear them out a tad, so that I could use it too!

I was a member of a Curves-type facility a few years ago, until it closed down. Joined because I got a free trial and really enjoyed it so I kept it up. I actually found it to be a valid workout - not sure if they're all the same, but mine interspersed weights with aerobics and that's a great way to work out! Keeps your heart rate up and also allows you to get those all important strength building moves in. I also really liked the demographic, it was full of women who went there to work out, not pick up guys!
I also like your goals. I'm going to sit down now and create some of my own.

@Carrol Farm - way to go on the weight loss and thanks for the good wishes!

Cdn - sounds like you have a good plan there! Lunch is a tricky meal for me too - something to work on, I guess!

I worked out at Curves for about six months while I was taking my mother. The workout was so easy for me that I could do everything without pushing my heart rate into the working zone.

I just cannot get into going to health clubs, gyms, or places like Curves...I don't like to do exercise with a bunch of other people like that. Plus, it is just not convenient having to go someplace, change, shower, etc...But I know it works for a lot of people. Let us know how it goes for you.

I have heard a few people say that they really liked Curves and a few who found it just wasnt enough for them (If it isnt "enough" why not do more on your own.) I'd consider it a work out centre.

I was going up to the gym last year for a bit and I found I was more motivated to go when I picked a time where a show was on I liked to watch (sad, I know.) I figured that if I could just walk for the hour that Iron Chef is on I'd be doing better than sitting on my butt!

Sounds like you have a great plan Lisa.
